Seva

Ludum Dare 60: Old Tech. An old mossy robot, a forgotten drill, and the energy buried under the forest.

Wake up
Overview

Old tech, asleep under the moss

My entry for Ludum Dare 60, October 2026. The theme was "Old Tech", and I took it literally. An old mossy robot wakes up in the forest, next to an abandoned forge, and finds under it the forgotten machines that once ran on an energy nobody remembers.

Seva is a digging game in pixel art. Drive an ancient Drill along its rail, lower its head through the strata, bring back the scraps of old tech you find down there, and forge them into upgrades until the Drill reaches the reserve of Seva glowing deep under the forge.

The Wake

A robot under the moss

Spring comes back, the moss shivers and an old robot stands up. It walks to the forge cabin built on stilts at the edge of the clearing, where an ancient Drill sleeps on its rail, plugged to the forge by a long cable.

The Drill

Roll, lower, dig, reel

Press E to board the Drill. Roll along the rail with A and D, hold S to lower the head and bite into the ground, press R to reel it back up with everything it found. The Drill drinks from its own tank: a sight glass on its head blinks red when it runs low, and the Drill rolls home to the forge quay to refuel.

The Finds

Scraps of old tech

Nuts, bolts, copper wire, gears, pistons, belts, bearings, filament bulbs, coils, relays, batteries and capacitors. Each layer of the ground hides the parts of its own era: the deeper you dig, the older and stranger the tech you bring back up.

The Forge

Turn finds into upgrades

Empty the bucket at the forge quay, then step inside. Your finds land on the forge lots, and a complete lot mounts a new evolution on the Drill: the Drill Bit, the Regulator that saves energy, the Side Bit to dig sideways, the Lamp for the dark, extra baskets to carry more, and the Drill Bit II and the Great Engine to pierce the hardest rock.

The Depths

Down to the Seva reserve

Humus, clay, rock, deep rock: every stratum is harder than the last, and only a stronger bit gets through. Underground it is dark, so the Lamp matters. At the bottom, under the forge, sleeps the reserve of Seva. Break into it and the old energy climbs the shaft back to the forge.

Faraday Corridors

A neon grid puzzler built in Godot. Move pawns through corridors, flip switches, rotate cells by 90°, hold contact pads and break floors to collect every energy cell and reach the exit. More than 50 hand-made levels across six chapters, including remasters from Phantoms and Lockey Land. Four medals per level for speedrunners (bronze, silver, gold, platinum), with the gold and platinum thresholds proven optimal by a Rust solver. Coming to Windows, macOS, Linux and Steam Deck.

Sylvestrine

A stylised top-down adventure built in Godot 4. Sylvestrine lives in a dark world of dust and stone where nature has been erased from memory; she discovers a power that lets her step into the first world and make the green grow back. Loot, combine, socket and activate to bring the living world back to life — across a hex-grid village hub of multi-story houses with roofs that lift away as you explore, behind a fog of revelation. Early prototype in progress.
